Keiko: Yes. Your father’s restaurant hasn’t changed, and the Mexican food is still great. By the way, where is your father?
Luke: He went to Vietnam on business. He wants to open a restaurant in Hanoi.
Keiko: Do Vietnamese people like Mexican food?
Luke: I heard they appreciate the spicy flavor.
Keiko: I hope he is successful.

on のイメージ「テーブルの上にボール」は、比喩的にさまざまなニュアンスにつながります。そのひとつが「ステージ」。He went to Vietnam. という出来事は「ビジネスというステージの上」で起こったのです。
on leave/holiday/vacation（休暇中）、on duty（勤務中）なども「ステージ」を意識すれば簡単に使えるようになります。
