「説明する」にもさまざまな動詞が集まっています。まずは explain。そこからほかの動詞に広げていきましょう。

ロキシーとその父親が、マジックショーを見に来ています。
Roxy: Dad, I’m really enjoying this magic show. I love magic.
Dad: Me too. Oh, here comes the magician again with his lovely assistant.
Roxy: Yeah, he’s putting her into the box.
Dad: And now he closes the doors of the box … and she disappears!
Roxy: Wow! How did he do that?
Dad: I know the secret of this classic trick. I can explain everything.
Roxy: Well, tell me after the show. I want to see a lot more magic tricks first.

「説明する」を意味する、最も色合いのない単語が explain 。日本語では「～について説明する」と言うため about をつけてしまいそうになりますが、（×）explain about everything とは言えないことに注意。
説明系動詞の中で多用されるのは show(見せる）「見せながら」説明するところに焦点がある単語です。
