ピーコック教授とジェシカがウインザー城のことで話をしています。
Professor Peacock, I’m going to Windsor this weekend to see the castle.
Oh, is it your first time?
Yes. I’m looking forward to it. It’s supposed to be older than Buckingham Palsce.
Windsor Castle is much older than Buckingham Palace. It was built in the 11th century.
That’s amazing. I heard it’s still used as a weekend home.
I’d like to have a weekend home too!
A second home is my dream!
Oh, is it?
絵画クラスで、講師のボブに生徒のサリーが、コンピューターで娘が書いた水彩画を見せています。
Bob, look at this watercolor painting.
Wow, that’s really good. Did you paint it?
No, my daughter Kaylie did. She used a computer.
It looks like a real watercolor. How long did it take her to create it?
Only one hour. It’s faster to draw it on a computer than to use real watercolor paints.
Well, I’m a traditional painter. I’ll stick to real paints and brushes.
Me too. I’m terrible with computer.
会社でアズサとタクマが、同僚のノーランについて話しています。
Where’s Nolan today?
He’s taking the morning off. He’ll be in after lunch.
Oh, that’s unusual. Did something happen to him?
Maybe he drank too much last night.
I see. Maybe I shouldn’t have scolded him about the mistakes in his report yesterday.
Nolan is a lot smarter than he seems, Azusa. He’s actually one of the key players here.
I know that, Takuma. I was just annoyed by his carefree attitude towards work.
再び油絵講座の講師ボブと、その生徒サリーがボブの家で話しています。
Bob, are all these paintings yours?
No, actually, most of them were painted by my sister Isabel.
Wow, she’s a great artist, just like you.
I’d say she’s the most talented artist in our family. She also speaks the best Spanish, apart from my mom, of course.
Oh, yes. I remember your mom is Mexican.
That’s right.
So, you must be fluent in Spanish.
Yes, but not as fluent as Isabel.

You look happy. What happened?
Well, my new boyfriend is a lot more romantic than he seems.
On my birthday, he gave me a birthstone ring.

I’m thinking about quitting my job and going abroad.
That’s not a bad idea, but I think it’s easier to learn English staying in Japan than going abroad.
I’m sure you can become as fluent as you wish if you put all your energy and effort into studying English.
