Listening Challenge!
Aoi: I heard about that, Ethan. Everyone’s going to miss you a lot.
Ethan: I’ll be back in the future, though. I’m pretty sure about that.
Aoi: As your tutor, I recommend you keep studying Japanese.
Ethan: I will, Aoi. It won’t be as fun studying by myself, though.
Aoi: There are lots of study apps available now. As a young person, you’ll easily find some good ones.
Ethan: Let’s stay in touch, Aoi.
Aoi: Of course!
A: Because he thinks studying by himself won’t be as fun.
B: Because he doesn’t have any books.
C: Because he doesn’t like using apps.
Kanae: Thank you, Jake.
Jake: Before I forget, how did you become so fluent in English?
Kanae: I studied every day with a radio program.
Jake: Sounds like a great program.
Kanae: Yes, it’s useful for learning practical expressions.
Jake: Now, you are one of the first female submarine pilots in Japan.
Kanae: Yes, my father encouraged me. Until recently, there were very few women on submarines in Japan.
Jake: Well, it’s a great achievement.
Kanae: Thank you.
A: She spoke in English with her father.
B: She asked her father to encourage her.
C: She listened to a radio program.
Jonas: London?
Yayoi: Yes, Dorothy Redfield called. She wanted to talk to you.
Jonas: To me? Oh, no! Because I overslept, I missed the eight o’clock train.
Yayoi: That’s too bad. She wanted to thank you.
Jonas: What did she want to thank me for?
Yayoi: She was very grateful since you welcomed her warmly.
Jonas: I didn’t do anything special…
Yayoi: I guess you made a big impression on her.
Jonas: Really? Wow.
A: To see Dorothy again.
B: To catch the eight o’clock train.
C: To do something special for Dorothy.
Roza: They were really fun. Thanks to the interesting stories, we got to play a lot of different roles.
David: What did you think of that statue in the undersea pyramid? Who was that?
Roza: You mean the man with the eyeglasses? It’s obviously Onishi-sensei.
David: Oh…so he was around thousands of years ago.
Roza: Well, it is fiction. Because of the writing at the base, it has to be him. It said, “Big West Teacher,” or “Onishi-sensei.”
David: Is Onishi-sensei a super genius like Zaytox?
Roza: I wouldn’t go that far…
A: Roza believes the statue is of Onishi-sensei.
B: The statue is of a real person from the past.
C: The man thinks Onishi-sensei and Zaytox are the same person.
