David: So, Naoki…Yumi asked me to talk to you.

Naoki: I figured you two were friends.

David: How did you know?

Naoki: You are landscape photographer. Yumi works for a travel magazine, so I thought you two already knew each other. Yumi didn’t want you to tell me, right?

David: Yumi was the first editor I worked with in Japan. It’s thanks to her that my work was published here. She’s done so much for me. I don’t want to see her so sad. I want her to be happy again.

Naoki: Thank you, David. Me, too.

Lesson 117 Summary

Naoki figured David and Yumi were friends.

Lesson 118 Why do I get the reindeer costume?

Yota: My father works for an event management firm. I asked if they could rent costumes for cheap. Let’s go there and try some costumes on!

Yota: What do you two think of my Santa Claus costume?

Miki: If you stuff your stomach, it’ll work well. What about mine?

Sho: You look perfect in a pirate costume, Miki! By the way, why do I get the reindeer costume? Besides, if I put the reindeer mask on, no one will know it’s me.

Miki: Because it’s cute, Sho.

Yota: Yeah, all the girls will love it. Now, all we need is a place that’s big and cheap to rent.

Lesson 118 Summary

Yota, Sho, and Miki tried costumes on.

Lesson 120 I’d like to improve our town’s economy

Mayor: So, Mr. Aoki, were you able to come up with any ideas for regional development? I’d like to improve our town’s economy.

Mr. Aoki: I am confident I can do that. However, I need a bit more time. I want to see what this town is like in the winter.

Mayor: There’s nothing. The town ran a big hotel, but after the ski boom ended, we had to close it down.

Mr. Aoki: But you still have other hotels, right?

Mayor: Yes, but they’re very small. Mr. Aoki, I’d like to give my people something to dream about.

Mr. Aoki: Don’t give your people dreams. Give them goals, goals they can achieve.

Lesson 120 Summary

The mayor wanted to improve Satoyama’s economy.
He told Mr. Aoki, “I’d like to give my people something to dream about,” but Mr. Aoki told him he should give his people goals instead.
