Miles: The man who lives next door drove his car into it.
Leah: So he’s going to pay for it, right?
Miles: No, he says he didn’t do it, but I saw him do it. He’s clearly lying. I think we need a lawyer.
Leah: I have a friend whose father is a good lawyer.
Miles: Do you think he can help us out?
Leah: I can talk to my friend and ask for her father’s help.
Miles: That would be great. We’ve never been in a situation like this before.
Leah: I’m sure everything will be fine.

help … out は「～を厳しい状況から助ける」。単に手伝うのではなく、厳しい状況から外に出してあげる（out）というわけです。重要フレーズ。

I have a friend whose father is a good lawyer.
whose は「先行詞をその所有する人・モノで説明」したいときに使いますが、この機能を持つのは whose だけです。
この文は a friend をその所有する人やモノ「その父親」で説明しています。whose は「誰の・誰のもの」を意味する wh 語。と同時に「所有格」を示す関係代名詞です。
先行詞と my father、John’s father など「誰の father なのか」を示す単語が空所になった節を結びます。ここでは a friend と「～の父親」が組み合わされ「その父親がいい弁護士である友達」となります。「whose＋名詞」は常にまとまって先行詞の後ろに置かれることに注意しましょう。

the boy を whose で受けるだけなら（X）the boy I damaged whose bicycle となりますが、そうした言い方はしません。先行詞の直後に「whose + 名詞」を移動し、the boy whose bicycle I damaged となります。

まず That’s the neighbor（あれが近所のヤツ）と言い切ったあと、その人が所有する犬で the neighbor を説明しています。whose dog （そいつの犬）は節の中で主語の働きをしています。
She’s the English teacher whose lessons we all love.
She’s the English teacher で文の骨格は完成です。あとは She’s the English teacher をその所有物 lessons で説明するだけ。whose lessons をすぐに続けましょう。あとは we all love whose lessons としてはいけません。whose lessons は先行詞の直後です。
Jack is the only co-worker whose advice I listen to.
Jack is the only co-worker のあとにその所有物 advice ですぐに説明していきましょう。
