Tim: Oh, how did you get that?
Katie: I passed the exam through lots of hard work.
Tim: Well, congratulations! But, herbal therapy? I’ve never heard of it.
Katie: Basically, it’s any type of health treatment using different herbs. It’s popular these days.
Tim: Oh, maybe you could help me. I’ve been kind of stressed out recently.

Basically は後ろを「要するに、簡単に言うと」と指定するから。それが自然な位置。
it’s any type of health treatment using different herbs.の並びはどうですか？しっくりきていますか？実に英語らしい並び。any type と言ってから、何のあらゆる種類かを of health treatment と説明。
さらにそれを using different herbs（さまざまなハーブを使っている）と説明。説明ルールが描く英語らしいリズムになっています。
②可能性を表す副詞の位置
Maybe you could help me.
maybe の位置に注意。「後続はたぶんの内容ですよ」と文全体を縛っているから文頭に置かれています。

through は会話初心者にはちょっとハードルが高い前置詞かもしれません。この前置詞のイメージは「トンネル通過」。筒状のものを通り抜けていくイメージです。through lots of hard work は「一生懸命な勉強」というトンネルを通り抜けて、ということ。
次も同じ感覚。
We talked through an interpreter.
Could you put me through to the person in charge?
We chatted all through the night.
さて、それでは問題。次の文の意味を考えてみてください。
落ち込んでいる友人に「どうしたの？」と尋ねると次の返事が･･･

別れてしまった、ということ。交際を through してしまった、ということです。
Please let me through!（通してください！）も使いこなしましょう。
