Mina: Ah, I love these old photos. Is this really you? You look so young!
Kurt: Yes, I was a lot slimmer back then, and my hair was still dark.
Mina: Who’s that woman next to you? She’s pretty.
Kurt: Her name is Akemi. We were good friends at that time. I wonder if she still thinks about me.
Mina: Did you like her?
Kurt: Yes, I really did. But our lives were going in different directions.

I wonder if she still thinks about me.
wonder はとても便利な動詞ですがなかなか日本語になりづらいですよね。この単語のイメージは「？」。この文では if 節（～かどうか）を伴い「まだ僕のことを考えているのかどうか」と頭に「？」を浮かべているのです。つまりは独り言です。
