「シーフードパエリアはやめて」というロキシーの要望に応えて、お父さんが作る夕食のメニューは･･･。
Dad: Hi, Roxy. How was your dentist appointment?
Roxy: Not too bad, but I hate the drilling noise at the dentist.
Dad: Anyway, I made the perfect dish for dinner: French onion soup. Here you are.
Roxy: Um, it’s tasty, but there is too much onion in it.
Dad: There’s supposed to be a lot of onion in it.
Roxy: How many onions did you use?
Dad: Three large ones.
Roxy: Isn’t that too much onion?
Dad: Not really. It all cooks down.

可算・不可算を分ける基準は「具体的で決まった形があるなら可算、抽象的で形がないなら不可算」。キーセンテンスの onion が不可算なのは、スープの中ですでに形をなくしているから。
