ヒロキは上司の奥様と会社の行事で顔を合わせました。
Hiroki: I’m so glad to finally meet you in person. I’ve heard so much about you.
Mrs. Sato: Oh, really? Nothing bad, I hope.
Hiroki: No, of course not! Your husband always talks about your great cooking.
Mrs. Sato: That’s interesting. He never says those kinds of things to me!
Hiroki: I envy Mr. Sato. I live by myself and rarely eat home-cooked meals.
Mrs. Sato: Well, please come over for dinner next time.
Hiroki: I’d really like that.

英語は「言語化」の言葉。強い感情はしっかりと強い表現で表さなければ伝わりません。単に I’m glad ではなく、強い強調語 so を添え I’m so glad。そしてその理由を to meet you in person だけではなく、「長い期間・プロセスの末」を意味する finally をつけることによって、「待ちかねていたのですがとうとう」というニュアンスを醸し出しています。
I’ve been so much looking forward to meeting you.
