Listening Challenge!
Jake: Great! It was another successful show, thanks to you, Sherry.
Sherry: I’m just the production assistant. You’re the star of the show.
Jake: The show is gaining popularity, but it’s all due to the people behind the scenes.
Sherry: We’re all a part of one team. But I will say this. You’re gaining confidence as the host.
Jake: Do you think so?
Sherry: Absolutely. You’ve acquired a lot of skills since July.
Jake: Wow. Thanks, Sherry.
What does Sherry think?
A: That she wants to be the star of the show.
B: That Jake is becoming more confident as a host.
C: That she needs more assistants.
Jeannie: But Dr. Stein, it was Frankie who cooked tonight.
Dr. Stein: Really? It was delicious.
Jeannie: He’s washing the dishes now.
Dr. Stein: Frankie is so helpful. Well, I need to prepare for work. I’m giving a presentation tomorrow.
Jeannie: Can I give you a hand?
Dr. Stein: Actually, yes. Could you give me advice on what to wear?
Jeannie: You would look good in your brown jacket and green tie.
Dr. Stein: Oh. Very good, Jeannie. Thank you.
A: Dr. Stein enjoyed the meal.
B: Frankie will help with Dr. Stein’s presentation.
C: Jeannie wants to wear Dr. Stein’s brown jacket.
Aki: Brendan, let me tell you the truth.
Peacock: Of course. I’m listening.
Aki: The truth is that this doesn’t make any sense.
Peacock: What do you mean?
Aki: First, let me ask you something. How far away are the Egyptian pyramids from this one?
Peacock: Let’s see…. They’re on opposite sides of the earth.
Aki: Yet these symbols look similar to ancient Egyptian ones.
Peacock: But we found this pyramid at the bottom of the South Pacific, near Fiji.
Aki: Exactly. How is that possible?
A: That the man can’t find the pictures he took.
B: That the pyramid symbols look like ancient Egyptian ones.
C: That there is no pyramid near Fiji.
Takuma: Me, too. There’s too much to see in one trip.
Kelly: What are you looking at now?
Takuma: Some hotels in Cairo, Egypt. This one provides guests with a gym and a swimming pool.
Kelly: Can I see? Wow, it looks expensive.
Takuma: Yeah, maybe we should choose a cheaper one.
Kelly: I agree. Anything’s fine as long as it provides easy access to the pyramids.
Takuma: That’s what I was thinking, too.
Kelly: I can’t wait to see them.
A: Swim in Cairo.
B: Stay at an expensive hotel.
C: Get to the pyramids easily.
