Listening Challenge!
Ethan: Hi, Miho. Good! I finally passed the Japanese language test.
Miho: Congratulations! How was it?
Ethan: It was pretty hard. I barely passed. My score was just above the borderline.
Miho: Passing is passing!
Ethan: That’s true, I guess. Last year, my Canadian friend Eddie passed it too. My score wasn’t as high as his.
Miho: I heard the test wasn’t as hard as it is now.
Ethan: I guess he was luckier than me.
Miho: Come on, take the win.
A: Ethan didn’t pass the test.
B: Eddie’s score was higher than Ethan’s.
C: Ethan’s. test was very easy.
Yayoi: Morning, Jonas. What’s up?
Jonas: Oh, nothing much. I kind of got stressed out driving to work today.
Yayoi: What happened?
Jonas: Another driver honked at me. He thought I was driving too slowly.
Yayoi: He can’t do that. That’s against the law. Just ignore people like that.
Jonas: I wanted to…but he got the better of me. He made me drive faster than I should have. It made me uncomfortable.
Yayoi: You just bought that car, Jonas. Please be careful.
Jonas: I will. Got to keep a level head, right?
A: He drove faster than usual.
B: He bought another car.
C: He ignored Yayoi.
Miho: “The Desperate Rats Final Farewell Tour”?
Ethan: Yeah, did you know they’ve had three other “farewell tours” before?
Miho: That’s funny. They keep changing their minds, huh?
Ethan: But this time it really is the final farewell. We have to go see them, Miho!
Miho: I don’t know…. Can’t you just watch videos on your phone?
Ethan: It’s better to experience a concert live than to watch it on your phone.
Miho: I know, but look at those ticket prices…
Ethan: Ugh, I know. But still!
A: Get a new phone.
B: Go to a concert.
C: Watch a live stream online.
Frau Hofmann: Yes, but who are you?
Caspar: Don’t you remember me? I’m Caspar from your German class at Lincoln High School.
Frau Hofmann: Ah, Caspar! It’s coming back to me now. You’ve gotten a lot bigger.
Caspar: I know. It’s been over twenty years, yes?
Frau Hofmann: I think so. But I do recall you spoke German the most fluently in my class.
Caspar: Well, that’s because my mother’s German.
Frau Hofmann: Oh, now I recall. Your name, Caspar, is common in Germany.
Caspar: Yes, that was my mom’s idea.
A: Caspar’s high school German teacher,
B: A friend of Caspar’s mother.
C: A German friend of Caspar’s from high school.
