Listening Challenge!
Doug: Shiho, what’s up? What happened?
Shiho: My parents said we can’t go to their house this year.
Doug: Why not? I thought we were planning to go there for Oshogatsu.
Shiho: They are remodeling their house and don’t have room for us.
Doug: Oh, that’s too bad. That’s OK, though. Cheer up! We can stay here for New Year’s.
Shiho: And do what?
Doug: Just take it easy.
Shiho: Sounds boring. Can you come up with a better idea?
Doug: It’s short notice, but I’ll try. Let me think about it.
A: Visit Shiho’s parents.
B: Remodel the house.
C: They’re not sure yet.
Grandma: Of course. Roxy wrote it up for us this morning.
Grandpa: OK, let’s get going then.
Grandma: Slow down! There’s no hurry, dear.
Grandpa: Hmm…Roxy has written down things we usually don’t buy.
Grandma: She wants to cook Japanese food for us today.
Grandpa: Where is the miso anyway?
Grandma: I found it. This is good. Prices have gone down a bit.
Grandpa: And what is this daikon thing on the list?
Grandma: It’s a kind of radish, dear.
A: Roxy wrote the shopping list last night.
B: Miso is cheaper than before.
C: The man will prepare a meal.
Shizuka: Same here, Frankie. You and Jeannie are the only androids I know.
Frankie: Yes. Dr. Stein introduced you to us out of the blue.
Shizuka: Frankie, watch out! That bicycle almost hit you!
Frankie: Thank you, Shizuka. The cyclists around here can be aggressive.
Shizuka: Why is everyone in such a hurry?
Frankie: Dr. Stein helped me out with that question before. He said humans are too worried about time.
Shizuka: They shouldn’t worry.
Frankie: I agree.
A: Why everyone is in a hurry.
B: Why Dr. Stein introduced her to Frankie.
C: Why some cyclists are aggressive.
Takuma: Makes sense. Kelly, look! There it is! The Taj Mahal!
Kelly: Incredible! It really is the most beautiful building in the world!
Takuma: It sure is. Let’s take a few pictures and then go inside.
Kelly: Oh, wait a minute. The sign says you have to take off your shoes before entering.
Takuma: I don’t want to walk in my bare feet.
Kelly: Oh, never mind. You’re OK. They offer shoe covers.
Takuma: That’s a relief. Let’s do that, then.
Kelly: OK.
A: Use shoe covers.
B: Take off their shoes.
C: Wash their feet.
