Aki: What sort of idea?

Peacock: Well, do you remember the first tablet we found?

Aki: Of course. We learned that it said, “Here was Scot Yaz.”

Peacock: Perhaps we’ve been reading it backwards.

Aki: Backwards? You mean it’s not read from left to right?

Peacock: Yes. I think it’s read from right to left. Even the name.

Aki: OK. Well, then it would say: “Zay Tocs was here.” But who is Zay Tocs?

Peacock: I have no idea.

もしかすると、僕たちは、今までそれを逆に読んでいたのかもしれない。
Perhaps we’ve been reading it backwards.

逆にですって? つまり、左から右に読むのではないということ?
Backwards? You mean it’s not read from left to right?

そう。 右から左に読むのだと思う。 その名前さえもね。
Yes. I think it’s read from right to left. Even the name.

わかった。 では、そうすると 「ゼイ・トクスがここにいた」と書いてあることになるわね。 でも、ゼイ・トクスって誰かしら?
OK. Well, then it would say: “Zay Tocs was here.” But who is Zay Tocs?

さっぱりわからない。
I have no idea.
