ラジオ英会話 Lesson 235 今週の Review
Listen to the questions and pick which one of the three options is the correct answer.
Listening Challenge!
Caspar: They looked dirty after the rain.
Alexis: But you never clean the windows. Why are you doing that now?
Caspar: My old German teacher gave me some advice. She said, “If you want to be successful, you must clean your windows every day.”
Alexis: Really? I’ve never heard that before.
Caspar: She said it’s common for German people to clean their windows every morning.
Alexis: That’s interesting. Are you sure she didn’t mean open them? Well, either way, it’s a good habit to start.
Caspar: I think so too.
A: Because it is raining outside.
B: Because the woman asked him to do it.
C: Because his teacher said it helps you be successful.
Jessica: Professor, there’s another room. Look!
Peacock: Let’s go in.
Jessica: There’s another statue! A man with eyeglasses? He almost looks East Asian.
Peacock: I can’t tell whether he’s East Asian or not.
Jessica: There’s writing on the base of the statue.
Peacock: Just a moment. Aki taught me how to read the language. The words are: “Teacher…West… Big… Listen to.”
Jessica: Listen to Big West Teacher?
Peacock: Jessica, you just made me realize something.
Jessica: What?
Peacock: I need to check my notes…
A: An Asian goddess.
B: A man reading a book.
C: A man wearing eyeglasses.
Jeannie: What happened?
Frankie: I told a joke to Shizuka, but she did not laugh.
Jeannie: What was the joke?
Frankie: It is designed for Japanese people. I said, “I’m sorry, hige-sori,” but she just looked away.
Jeannie: That’s not a good joke for a Japanese girl. You won’t make friends unless you learn to “read the air.”
Frankie: How can I do that?
Jeannie: Feel the mood of people around you.
Frankie: Feel? Feel. Hmm. I see.
A: What a joke is.
B: Why Shizuka didn’t laugh.
C: Why people shave.
Aki: What sort of idea?
Peacock: Well, do you remember the first tablet we found?
Aki: Of course. We learned that it said, “Here was Scot Yaz.”
Peacock: Perhaps we’ve been reading it backwards.
Aki: Backwards? You mean it’s not read from left to right?
Peacock: Yes. I think it’s read from right to left. Even the name.
Aki: OK. Well, then it would say: “Zay Tocs was here.” But who is Zay Tocs?
Peacock: I have no idea.
