Lesson Lesson 097 I wanted to talk to you about Sho’s high school

Naoki: Hi, Yumi.

Yumi: Hi. Thank you for sending me the video of Sho’s wadaiko performance. He performed like a rock star.

Naoki: He’s been practicing hard for the past three years. Anyway, listen. I wanted to talk to you about Sho’s high school.

Yumi: Naoki, could you take care of that by yourself?

Naoki: Sure, but is that OK with you?

Yumi: I have no right to tell him what to do. I’ve been away from home for five years.

Naoki: Come on. We both know you had no other choice.

Lesson 097 Summary

Yumi enjoyed watching the video of Sho’s wadaiko performance.
Naoki said,”He’s been  practicing hard for past three years.”
Naoki wanted to talk about Sho’s high school, but Yumi told him to take care of it by himself. 

 

Lesson 098 Why did you start running?

Miki: Thanks for running with me today.

Sho: My pleasure. It’s fun to run with you.

Miki: Aww, thanks, Sho! Let’s do this again.

Sho: Anytime. By the way, why did you start running?

Miki: Mr. Aoki recommended it. He said a strong mind and body are important for entrance exams.

Sho: That’s good advice.

Miki: Oh! My father and I are going to meet Mr. Tanaka to talk about high school.

Sho: Do you know where you want to go?

Miki: I want to go to a high school attached to a university in Tokyo.

Sho: Tokyo…that’s far.

Lesson 098 Summary

Sho told Miki, “It’s fun to run with you.”
Miki said, “My father and I are going to meet Mr. Tanaka to talk about high school.”
Miki told Sho she wanted to go to a high school attached to a university in Tokyo.

 

Lesson 099 Did you read today’s town paper?

Yota: Hey, Sho. Did you read today’s town paper?

Sho: Hey, Yota. Not yet.

Yota: There’s an article on the Sakurayama Senior Marathon. It has an interview with your grandmother.

Sho: I didn’t know that. What did she say?

Yota: She said the key to winning a race is to be calm. To be calm, you have to practice every day. That leads to results. Pretty cool, huh?

Sho: Whatever. She says that to me all the time.

Yota: She will also be on the live radio program “Good Morning, Sakurayama!” next week.

Sho: Live radio…I hope she doesn’t talk too much.

 

Lesson 099 Summary

Yota asked Sho if he read today’s town paper.
After Sho answered, “Not yet”, Yota said, “There’s an article on the Sakurayama Senior Marathon. It has an interview with your grandmother.”

 

Lesson 100 The path for the second half of the race has changed

Naoki: Hello, everyone. My name is Sato Naoki, and I am in charge of the marathon. This year, due to roadwork, the path for the second half of the race has changed.

Participant A: Could you tell us how to get from Sakurayama Park to the goal.

Naoki: After you run through sakurayama Park, you’ll see a police box on your left. Turn there and run toward the town office. Keep going until you reach the field at the junior high school.

Participant B: What about water?

Naoki: There is an aid station with water every two to three kilometers on the course. Please run safely, and avoid injury and accidents.

 

Lesson 100 Summary

Naoki explained the route for this year’s marathon.
He said, “After you run through Sakurayama park, you’ll see a police box on your left. Turn there and run toward the town office. Keep going until you reach the field at the junior high school.”
