Lesson 153 I’m going to help with snow removal

Sho: Hi, Dad. You’re up early today.

Naoki: Good morning, Sho. I’m going to help with snow removal. There isn’t much snow on our roof, but houses near the mountain have much more snow on their rooftops than ours. And that needs to be removed as soon as possible.

Sho: Why don’t you look for volunteers?

Naoki: Because you need experience to safely remove snow from rooftops. Many people think snow is light, but it’s actually very heavy.

Sho: You know, David told me some towns have events to learn about snow removal.

Naoki: Good idea. We can try it next year.

Sho: Make sure everyone gets to eat afterwards. Anyway, I’m going running. Take care, Dad.

Naoki: You too, Sho.

Lesson 153 Summary

Naoki said to Sho, “There isn’t much snow on our roof, but houses near the mountain have much more snow on their rooftops than ours.

Lesson 154 Maybe it was false information

David: Yoko, you’re becoming faster at typing on the keyboard.

Yoko: To keep up with the times, I’m starting a blog in the spring.

David: Incredible! By the way….

Yoko: Oh, yes. You were worried about the redevelopment of Satoyama Ravine. There was nothing about it on the town’s homepage.

David: Maybe it was false information.

Yoko: I think it just hasn’t been decided. According to the December edition of the Mayor’s Records, it says, “The mayor and members of the regional development board inspected the closed town hotel.”

David: There’s a picture. Mr. Aoki is in there.

Yoko: If you want to know what’s going on, you should ask the people in this picture. I’ll ask them for you.

Lesson 155 Sho, you’re way too honest

Yota: Sho! I knew it!

Sho: Huh? What do you know? By the way, this scarf from Kanon is nice and warm.

Yota: Miki’s coming to school today, right?

Sho: That’s right. She cannot stay in the school dorm. She went to Tokyo to look for a place to live, but she’s back now. So, what’s up?

Yota: As Kanon’s brother, I’m happy that you’re wearing her scarf. But I’ll tell you this as a friend. I don’t think it’s a good idea that you’re wearing her scarf, because Miki won’t like it.

Sho: You think? When I texted Miki that Kanon gave me a scarf, she texted back, “Good for you.”

Yota: What? Sho, you’re way too honest.

Lesson 155 Summary

Lesson 156 If it were Grandpa

Yoko: Your entrance exam is next week, Sho. Keep studying!

Sho: Of course. By the way, I want to celebrate after I pass the exam.

Yoko: You haven’t passed it yet, Sho. If you do, I’ll raise your pocket money.

Sho: Thanks, Grandma. But I meant I’d like you to come with me to Mari’s group exhibition.

Yoko: I received an invitation from her. It’s in Tokyo, right? I can’t go. I have to look after the ryokan.

Sho: Grandma, it’s Mari’s first ever art exhibition. We have to support that together as a family.

Yoko: Well, yes, but ryokan….

Sho: If it were Grandpa, I’m sure he would gladly come….

Yoko: Oh, all right! I’ll go.
