Kyoko: I know, but watch your manners. Finish chewing before you speak.
Theo: You’re right. Sorry about that.
Kyoko: That’s better. Now, what were you going to say?
Theo: Our team won first place in the competition today.
Kyoko: That’s wonderful! I’m very proud of you.
competition: 競争、競技会
tell you what happened: 何が起こったのかをあなたに話す
manners: マナー、やり方
chew: かんで食べる
won: ～を勝ち取った(win の過去形)
