Lesson 133 Will she be coming back?

Naoki: Sho, your mother really appreciated what you did with the costume party.

Sho: So, Will she be coming back?

Naoki: She is writing a travel book with David now. She’s also really enjoying her job at the magazine.

Sho: So, she’s not coming back?

Naoki: She will. Just not now. Mari feels exactly the same way as you. She’s now busy preparing for a group art exhibition in March, but she said she would contact your mother.

Sho: Really?

Naoki: They’re both in Tokyo, after all. Mari also told me you should focus on your exams. Sho, I’ll work on making our family a team again. You work on your exams, OK?

Sho: OK, Dad!

Lesson 133 Summary

Sho asked Naoki if his mom would be coming back.
Naoki said, “She is wrinting a travel book with David naow. She’s also really enjoying her job at the magazine.”
Also, Mari told Naoki Sho should focus on his exams.

Lesson 134 What changed you?

Sho: Mari, Dad told me you would get in touch with Mom.

Mari: I am a member of the family too, Sho. I have to do my part. I honestly never thought you were going to take action. I thought you were all talk.

Sho: I used to be, but not anymore.

Mari: So, what changed you?

Sho: People, like you and David, who work toward making their dreams come true. You all helped me to think about my future. Also, after my wadaiko performance, I learned that effort always pays off.

Mari: Those are great words, Sho. Could you tell David “thank you” from all of us.

Sho: OK.

Lesson 134 Summary

Mari told Sho, “I thought you were all talk.”
Sho replied he used to be, but not anymore.
Mari asked, “So, what changed you?”
Sho said, “People, like you and David, who work toward making their dreams come true.”

Lesson 135 All my family members went to the same high school

Sho: Yota, do people with sports scholarships still have to take exams?

Yota: Of course, I have mine next week. I just have to make sure I don’t do too badly.

Sho: Yota, I don’t think it’s a good idea to be too optimistic.

Yota: O…OK. I’ll do my best, Sho. Boy, what is it with you?

Sho: Miki is moving to Tokyo to prepare for her exams. She made me realize I have to work harder for my exams.

Yota: Your exam is in February, right?

Sho: Yeah. All my family members went to the same high school.

Yota: Wow, that’s impressive!

Sho: I want to follow in their footsteps.

Lesson 135 Summary

Yota seemed optimistic about his exams.

Lesson 136 Your smiles give me energy

Sho: David, why are there so many cameras here?

David: I’m going to Satoyama Ravine next week to take pictures of the town during winter. I have to check all the equipment before I leave.

Sho: Listen…about Mom….

David: Your dad told me. Sho, please forcus on your exams. Your mom and I are working on a travel book, so I will be able to continue supporting you and your family.

Sho: Won’t it disturb your work?

David: Don’t worry, Sho. Let me put it this way. I want to help people I like. Your smiles give me energy.

Sho: Thank you so much, David. I will be sure to pass my exams!

Lesson 136 Summary

David told Sho to focus on his exams.
He said, “I will be able to continue supporting you and your family.”
Sho asked David, “Won’t disturb your work?”
David told him,”Let me put it this way. I want to help people I like.”
