Alexis: This one?
Casper: Yes, that figure cost me a fortune.
Alexis: I know. You paid 50,000 yen for it. I can’t believe you actually bought it.
Casper: Believe me, Alexis. This figure will be worth ten times that price someday.

Yuko: That’s me. Please call me Yuko. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Thomas.

Yuko: How was your flight? You must be tired.
Tom: It was really long, but here I am in Japan!

Ms. Sato: What do you mean?
Mr. Smith: Ms. Jetz has dyed her hair bright pink!
Ms. Sato: Wow, that’s cool. It’s not so unusual these days.
Mr. Smith: It’s a little early for a Halloween costume.
Ms. Sato: I think bright pink hair would match her electric boots.
Mr. Smith: That may be true, but she’s a music teacher, not a rock star.
Ms. Sato: She wants to express her creativity.
Mr. Smith: Yeah, right.

ヨランダはマサルの英語がずいぶん上達したと感心しています。
Masaru: Did someone tell you that already? News travels fast.
Yolanda: Your English has gotten so much better!
Masaru: Thanks. It’s partly because I always speak to Roxy in English. She’s bilingual, you know.
Yolanda: I know. Her father’s from England, and her mother’s Japanese.
Masaru: That’s right. She always speaks to her dad in English.
Yolanda: I should speak to you in Japanese more to improve my Japanese.
Masaru: いつでもどうぞ。
SAY IT IN ENGLISH! ～英語で声に出して表現してみましょう～
英語で下記の内容を表現してみよう。必ず声に出して練習しよう。
①あなたの名前はモモコ。最近お付き合いを始めました。友人に状況を報告してください。
例えば「彼はとても素敵な人。彼は自分の車をピンクに塗って、私にちなんでモモと名前をつけてくれました。愛されるのは、とても素晴らしいことです」など。
表現例
②SNSで偶然繋がった昔の同級生と会うことになりました。「いいイタリアンレストランをご存知ですか？」という友人に、自宅でのディナーを勧めてください。
例えば「私の家で夕食をとりませんか？ あなたを妻に紹介したいのです。もし酔っぱらっても大丈夫ですよ。 タクシーを呼びますから。 どう思いますか？」など。
