Gary: Nice to meet you. So, how’s the food?
Helen: Great! I love the roast chicken and mashed potatoes.
Gary: I should have gotten that instead of this hamburger.
Helen: Which dorm are you living in?
Gary: I’m in Samson Hall.
Helen: Oh, really? So am I. Which floor are you on?
Gary: The tenth floor. How about you?
Helen: The ninth floor.

Caspar: Honey, I’m home!
Alexis: Hi, Caspar. I’m cooking dinner now.
Caspar: It smells wonderful! Oh, I got you the mailing labels you wanted.
Alexis: Thanks. That reminds me. I received another order today. I can’t believe all the orders I’ve been receiving for my handmade dolls recently.
Caspar: Do you have a lot of followers.
Alexis: I’ve got over a hundred followers! Three months ago, nobody was visiting my website. I must have talent.
Caspar: I’m really proud of you.

将棋クラブの部長ソウタと部員のリナが話をしています。
Rina: Sota, here’s the new club member list. We have four new members.
Sota: Thank you. Shogi is getting more and more popular, I guess.
Rina: Yes. Changing the subject, did you know that Tom is dating Masami?
Sota: What? I thought Masami didn’t like Tom. And I told Tom to stop using the club for dating.
Rina: Oh, Tom followed the rules. He started playing with other club members more.
Sota: So, what happened?
Rina: I think Masami secretly liked Tom.
Sota: Unbelievable.

タップダンサーのフレッドが、ミュージカル映画に向けて試し撮りをしています。
Fred: So, that’s my basic tap dance routine. What do you think?
Doris: Hmm, it’s OK. But you danced with more energy at the high school reunion. Don’t you think so?
Fred: I guess I’m a little nervous.
Doris: Relax, Fred. We’re just doing tests to see how you look on screen.
Fred: OK. Will I be dancing alone in the movie?
Doris: No, you’ll be part of a group of five dancers.
Fred: Good. I feel a little funny about dancing by myself.
SAY IT IN ENGLISH! ～英語で声に出して表現してみましょう～

①あなたのことが好きかもしれない同僚が会社にいます。その同僚と、顧客の一人 Mr. Crab の話になりました。気持ちを確かめるために作り話をします。
例えば「ああ、それで思い出しました。私は今夜、弟の誕生日のためにシーフードレストランで席を予約してあります。ですが、彼から電話があり、来られないようです。私はキャンセルしなければならないかなぁ？」など。
表現例
②仕事が一段落した後、あなたは同僚にアキラの退職についての話を持ち出します。彼はいい人なのでお別れ会を催したいのです。
例えば「いいですよ。 ところでアキラが会社を辞めると聞きましたか？彼はいい人なので、お別れ会を企画したのです。どう思いますか？」など。
