Jennifer: Hey, Theo. Mom is asking us to mow the lawn this afternoon.
Theo: Seriously? I’m kind of busy today. I’ve got a lot on my plate, and I’m knee-deep in homework.
Jennifer: Oh, really? Well, she said she might give us some allowance. You could finally get that samurai figure from Little Ken’s Workshop.
Theo: Wait, seriously? How much are we talking about?
Jennifer: Enough, I think.
Theo: In that case…yeah, I’m in. Let’s do it together.
mow the lawn: 芝生を刈る
knee-deep: 膝の深さまでの、膝までつかっている(はまり込んで身動 きがとれないことを表す)
allowance: 手当、小遣い
finally: とうとう、ついに
in that case: その場合には
I’m in.: 参加します。

overwhelmed: 圧倒されている

stretched thin: 薄く引き伸ばされている→ 余裕のなさを表している
