Listening Challenge!

Lesson 001 語順が大切①:場所表現の位置

ロキシーは父親と母親の出会いを尋ねています。

Roxy: Dad, can I ask you a funny question?

Dad: It depends on how funny it is. Anyway, go ahead, Roxy.

Roxy: How did you meet Mom?

Dad: Goodness, that was so long ago. I met her at a flea market in Yoyogi Park.

Roxy: Really? How did you start talking to her?

Dad: We were both looking at the same old pots, I think. Wait, they were paella pans!

Roxy: Oh, so that's when you started making paella?

Dad: Yes, I think so.

Lesson 002 語順が大切②:リポート文

マサヤとディーナが空を飛ぶ不思議な物体を見たようです。

Masaya: Deena, look up at the sky. Isn't that a UFO? It's not an airplane, that's for sure.

Deena: Are you kidding?

Masaya: Quick! Record it on your phone.

Deena: Good idea. I've never seen anything move like that before.

Masaya: Wait a minute. I know what it is. I think it's a drone.

Deena: I think you're right. Someone's trying to fool us.

Masaya: It's very easy to make something resembling a UFO these days with our technology.

Deena: That's true.

Lesson 003 語順が大切③:関係代名詞節

アメリカの大学に合格したシホですが、恋人のダグと離ればなれになることを気にしています。

Shiho: Doug, I'm not sure what I should do now.

Doug: What do you mean?

Shiho: I'm thinking perhaps I should stay in Japan.

Doug: But you've been accepted to Columbia. It's an excellent opportunity.

Shiho: I know, but I don't want to leave you behind.

Doug: I can always visit you in the States.

Shiho: But we'll be apart for a long time.

Doug: You can't give up your dream, Shiho. You don't want to do something you'll regret later.

Lesson 004 語順が大切④:to 不定詞

ジェシカがホーキング教授の本を読んでいるとピーコック教授が話しかけます。

peacock: What are you reading, Jessica?

Jessica: It's a book by Stephen Hawking.

Peacock: Oh, Hawking. I met him once a long time ago. Interesting fellow.

Jessica: You actually met Professor Hawking?

Peacock: Yes, this was when I was in university. I was living in Brighton at the time. I went to London to do research, and he was giving a lecture.

Jessica: That's amazing! Hawking changed the way we look at the universe.

Peacock: Yes, he certainly was a genius.
