Listening Challenge!
Jeannie: Yes, we went shopping for clothes on Sunday.
Dr. Stein: Oh, I’m so happy you two are interested in similar things.
Jeannie: We both like fashion, but Shizuka doesn’t get excited about it like I do. She is hard to impress.
Dr. Stein: Well, perhaps she is a bit like Frankie in that respect.
Jeannie: That may be true, Dr. Stein. Frankie is impossible to impress!
Dr. Stein: He is very logical about everything.
Jeannie: And I’m not?
Dr. Stein: Uh…I didn’t say that, Jeannie.
A: They met Frankie.
B: They went shopping.
C: They attended a fashion show.
Ethan: I think so. I feel pretty confident about the kanji now.
Aoi: Yes, you’re likely to pass that part of the test. But your weak area is still grammar.
Ethan: I know. I keep making the same mistakes on the practice tests.
Aoi: Now you just have to concentrate on that part.
Ethan: I only have a few days, Aoi.
Aoi: Don’t worry, stay focused and you’ll be fine. Just make sure to set your alarm on Sunday night.
Ethan: OK.
A: A practice test on kanji.
B: A test on English grammar.
C: A Japanese language test.
Adeline: Yes, thank you. Be careful not to spill it.
Mr. Emori: Yes, of course…. Ah, OK. Safe!
Adeline: So, Mr. Emori, what’s this surprise you have for me?
Mr. Emori: Do you remember that haiku you wrote?
Adeline: The one you corrected?
Mr. Emori: I only made a suggestion – you wrote it. But yes, that one.
Adeline: What about it?
Mr. Emori: I entered it in a haiku contest. I’m happy to inform you that it won first prize!
Adeline: You did? It did? Really?
Mr. Emori: Yes!
A: Adeline’s.
B: Mr. Emori’s.
C: Both Adeline’s and Mr. Emori’s.
Grandma: She’s a lovely goddess, except for the feet. They look like birds’ feet.
Grandpa: Roxy and I thought she looked like Roxy.
Grandma: She doesn’t look like Roxy at all!
Grandpa: Really? I think she does.
Grandma: You’re inclined to imagine things. I suppose that’s where Roxy gets it from.
Grandpa: It’s important to have a strong sense of imagination, darling. Comes in handy sometimes…
Grandma: In small doses, perhaps…
A: Roxy and grandpa have good imaginations.
B: Roxy looks like her grandma.
C: Roxy has feet like a bird’s.
