PRACTICAL CHALLENGE! ~

promise not to …

SIMPLE ANSWER

1 You promised not to be late again, but look what’s happening.
2 Your goal is to be a train driver, right? That job requires punctuality.
3 If you go on like this, you won’t be able to get your dream job!

1  You promised not to be late again, but look what’s happening.

2  Your goal is to be a train driver, right? That job requires punctuality.

3  If you go on like this, you won’t be able to get your dream job!

go on は「続ける」。

ADVANCED ANSWER

1  I can’t believe you’re late again, despite all your promises. And yet you say you want to be a train driver in the future.
2  You know, to be punctual is an essential requirement of such a job.
3  If you are to realize your dream, you’re going to have to change your ways!

1  I can’t believe you’re late again, despite all your promises. And yet you say you want to be a train driver in the future.

2  You know, to be punctual is an essential requirement of such a job.

3  If you are to realize your dream, you’re going to have to change your ways!
